A rather large list is included with photos of each. Some are represented in their flower stage. When the flowers are blooming in the desert it's quite a spectacle to behold. Now most people capture whole fields of wild flowers which is really nice and we've done that also. Here we've tried to zoom in on some of different varieties for a closer look, to single them out and to see how beautiful each species is.
Coyotes are often mistaken for small meduim sized domestic dogs. They have long, bushy black-tipped tail, pointed ears and narrow pointed face. Their fur varies in color, from light brown to grayish. The fur on their belly is usually white. The coyote (Canis Iatrans) was adopted as south dakota's state animal in 1949. Native to the desert southwest, the coyote now ranges from Alaska.
The nostrils Armadillo Lizard are formed into little tube. The tubes help the Amidillo Lizards smell for food or predators. A ground dwelling lizard, it is active in the daytime and feeds on a wide variety of insects, as well as on spider and other invertebrates. The head of the Armadillo Lizard is narrow in shape. It is fairly slow moving animals, but when the Armadillo Lizard thinks or knows it's in danger, it runs as fast as it can go cover.
The kangaroo rat is a very cute little critter that kind of look like a mini kangaroo, but its as big as a mouse. It has Large hind legs and feet. It usaully grow to about 14 inches (38 cm) in length, including its tail. Its hair is a yellow buff color above and white below. The tail has a white-tipped tuft at the end. The thing that sticks out the most Kangaroo rat's VERY BIG EYES!!
